║ NIGHT MISSION ║
║ PINBALL ║
║ VER 3.0 ║
╚═════════════════╝
To run Night Mission Pinball, type PINBALL and press [Enter].
New features in Version 3.0:
- EGA and MCGA graphics support:
- EGA (320x200, 16 color) mode
- MCGA (320x200, 256 color; 16 used) mode.
- Select from 6 graphic modes on first menu.
- DOS support with no copy protection:
You may exit to DOS by pressing [Ctrl-Break]. You may run Pinball
from a hard disk or another floppy disk by copying all files from
the master diskette.
- Automatic machine speed calibration:
Night Mission Pinball automatically compensates for the machine
speed, so game play is about the same on all machines.
- Automatic game logging:
If you run Pinball from a non-write-protected diskette or a hard
disk, the mode, time, date, score and other features of each game
you play are recorded in the file PINBALL.LOG. If it exists when
you start Pinball, new results are added to the end of the file.
If it doesn't exist, it will be created. PINBALL.LOG is a stan-
dard ASCII file that may be viewed or printed like any other.
Game logging will not occur on a write-protected diskette.
The following items are recorded in PINBALL.LOG:
mode - Game mode between 00 and 29.
date - The current date.
time - The time at which the game ended.
cred - Four separate items:
H a high score was accomplished.
G a game was earned on points.
1,2,... number of specials earned (blank if 0).
M a match was accomplished.
score - The final score.
tilt - Number of times the machine was tilted.
3X - Number of times a 3X bonus was earned.
5X - Number of times a 5X bonus was earned.
outln - Number of drains down the "D" lane.
bonus - Number of points earned on bonus.
bumper - Number of points earned off bumper hits.
spinner - Number of points off spinner.
xtra - Number of extra balls earned.
- Changes to scoring:
- Completing "FLY" sequence increases value of all bumpers by
100 points, up to 990 points.
- Completing all "NIGHT" lane lites awards 25,000 points.
- Completing "ABCD" sequence turns off D-lane gate in addition
to its other functions.
- Changes to playfield:
- The slope of the surface behind the "FLY" targets was changed
to decrease the chance of draining after hitting those targets.
- The slope of the surface above the "DROP" targets was changed
to decrease the chance of draining after hitting it.
- Tilt probability:
The tilt probability function has been changed slightly. In the
editor you may enter any value between 0 and 255. This number
divided by 256 will be the chance of the machine tilting due to
a tilt-key keypress. For example, a value of 0 means a tilt will
never occur; a value of 128 increases the chance to exactly 50%.
Additionally, the probability of tilting due to occasional
tilt-key keypresses is very remote, just as a slight push on a
pinball machine is very unlikely to cause a tilt. Each rapid
tilt-key keypress will have the probability of causing a tilt
specified in the fix system.
